Even though I really didn't watch re-runs of "I Love Lucy," I know enough about the history of television to know that with Desi, Lucy was an innovator of the situation comedy. She and Desi also created syndication! They smartly filmed their episodes, which had a lasting quality compared to other shows of the early '50s. But perhaps most significantly, I respect the fact that even though Lucy was a female trail-blazer, she didn't play the woman card. She did what she had to do as a true Leo leader.

Ms. Ball always seemed a bit self-conscious, stiff, and awkward on most interviews. She demonstrated little humor, making few really funny comments, jokes, or madcap behaviors. I think being serious came naturally to her, and her great fame as a comedienne may have inhibited her from taking risks in doing unscripted public comedy. This all serves to point up her greatness as an actress.

Absolutely none of his nor anyone's Goddamned business when Lucy lost her virginity...THIS is certainly ablunderous mishap if their ever was one... Johnny Carson should have been ashamed of himself about asking Lucy such an intimate and embarrassing question...such cheap vulgarity should be banned on TV even at that time it was extremely immoral...sorry Johnny but you took it one step too far that time ! Laura Daitch-Landgraf !

Sadly I never met Doris, but she was also very kind. I love and miss her too. I admire them so much for their love of animals and devotion to saving animals. God rest their beautiful souls.

@Robert MasinaLucy was a jokester. A comedian. Her favorite thing to do when a friend entered the room was to say "There she is now, why don't you tell it to her face?" and enjoy the aftermath. Your comment is akin to Joan Rivers calling everyone ugly or fat but when someone referred to her (ugly) daughter as "ugly" that's when she went off. She just wasn't having it. Lol. You can't have these double standards, especially in that world. If she felt the question was totally out of line, she would have walked off the set. You have to realize that her, Johnny, Frankie, Sammy, Vivian, and more from that era probably ridiculed each other about their genitalia over tea party invitations (which were actually cocktail/coke parties standing around the pool).

Never cared much for her hair or make-up.....but the women had impeccable taste in style and clothes....take note of her wardrobe across all 3 shows (50's,60's, 70's)..the women dressed her ass off...pairing of colors, styles designs...all stunning.....in stark contrast of vance who demanded a higher wardrobe budget to co-star in the lucy show...but in every episode she wore chocker pearls and each outfit she looked as if she were going to a dinner party....even if it was the middle of the afternoon n they were heading to the bank.

Was not as 'rude' as you make it. Their interview relationship had long been established by this time, note Lucy's snarky attitude from the very beginning. She was comfortable with Johnny as he was with her, this gave them both the ability to push beyond normal protocol to go for the shock value. The question was never intended for an answer, just to 'one up' her and get a response back that might even 'up' him back. Notice the moment she straightens up and goes serious, Johnny takes that cue and they get down to business.

Eye opener ain't it? 48 yrs since took photos gratis for carpentry+acting portfolios of down on luck actor who'd only had 1 TV series episode of work in prev 18 mos! Last photo in mechanic coveralls w/just wrench & rag for props got him part of Bob Falfa out-of-towner gearhead in Amer Grafitti when met George Lucas! Sold plenty of tickets on movie side of business AND other 12 shots sold his carpentry expertise so he & family could eat until bigger bucks came rolling in. Ever notice every interview Harrison Ford gives he mentions carpentry, doing good work, and perseverance? He did perfectionate job on my Cousin's kitchen, allowed me to sand half with him, he applied finish second to none & we surprised him w/12 shot carpentry portfolio ALL BECAUSE HE DID GOOD WORK! Mr. Ford asked for acting portfolio photos so bargained me down to $24.50, $16 film for Rollie & $8.50 for processing! He got screwed though as I would have bought his film & processing for free, as we were buds after sanding kitchen together swapping movie trivia for 28 hours! And here Mr. Ford's supposed to be so smart, but hick in his 20s from Michigan had nicked him for $24.50! Stranger yet is: Cousin, Husband, Mr. Ford, Mr. Lucas & me were all in our 20s back then BUT 48 YRS SINCE WE'RE ALL ALIVE...so try to guess which one of is ready to star in their next action movie, another installment of the Indiana Jones dynasty? Don't look at me...I ain't crazy!

Lucy must be talking about that dreadful Mame where Lucy Warbles all songs. Critics hated it, and it did make some funds, but after 20 packs of cigarettes a day, Lucy was never a great singer, but all those cigarettes didn’t help at all. And of Gary Morton, the reason the marriage lasted a very long time was, Gary Did exactly what Lucy Demanded. And after Lucy’s Death, Gary Loved so much, Gary married a 20 something year Old girl! In memory of Lucy! 🥴🤭🤔

Lucy was always funny, but she did not answer the million dollar question at that time. Johnny ask her how old she was when she first made love?? That is hard to talk about, but Lucy got so lucky just being with Desi arnez, even though Desi did do Lucy wrong!!!!!. I love the way she looked at Johnny when he ask her that!!!! I do know that Lucy and Desi r together in heaven. But if Lucy was here right now, I wonder what she would have thought about all these stories, about stupid, dum, police and these protest!!!!! Anyway heaven is a better safer world!!!!! This is really being said by Chastity Lampkin.
